THE UNCHANGEABLE GOD
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
READ: Jeremiah 35:11-19
Most time When we say our God is unchangeable, we may not understand the full implication of what we are saying unless we are well-grounded in His word and ways.
His word in today's memory verse emphatically states that Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, is the same yesterday, today and forever, meaning that what He stood for over two thousand years ago has not changed today. (That is His standard, Faith, Ideas, opinions about the scripture is still the same) Unlike politicians who change their ideologies with the mood swings of the polity, Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:18:
“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
God's covenants are established on the pillars of His unchangeable nature (Malachi 3:6). He therefore expects those in covenant with Him to be consistent in living by the terms of His covenant. In today's Bible reading (Jeremiah 35), the Almighty God directed Jeremiah To visit the house the house of Jonadab the Rechabites and give them wine to drink, and they said
"we will not drink wine: for Jinadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink wine, neither ye, nor your son's for ever: Neither shall ye build house nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard not have any: but all your days shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strengers" (verse 6&7).
If it where to be the people of this generation, the instructions of the fathers would have been something we would have tag "Old fashion" but this offsprings of Jonadab refused to compromise the faith set my their earthly father's. Even when a servant of God who represent God instruct them to go contrarily, they refused.
If just the world life style and philosophy will change our believes and faith can we be termed "A worthy associate"? If we still find the doctrines of the church difficult to abide by, are we still faithful? If simple because other church female church members wear trousers to the church the church, and tell you Christianity is not about what you are putting on, but about your heart, and as a result let's practice it. That means you are not qualified for the masters reward.
From the story from our Bible reading, verse 19 God himself said "the son's of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me forever" (NIV 35:19 Therefore this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ’Jehonadab son of Rekab will never fail to have a descendant to serve me)
That is to say God himself from that moment established an everlasting covenant of presthood with them. What a great promise?
There is something our COG7 constitution said in article 1.6 that I like so much, it said " if any other rules and regulations and the provision of this constitution are inconsistent with the Bible, the Bible shall prevail and those other rules and regulations shall to the extent of inconsistency, be NULL and VOID"
To that's to tell you that our constitution and believe are centred on God's word and.
Brethren, do don't try to use your philosophy, psychology, or your earthly aquired knowledge to justify your wrong when it comes to the doctrine and believe of the church. GOD NEVER CHANGE. And he can never change.
We are chosen by God to be a peculiar people consecrated to Him (1 Peter 2:9). Beloved, do not be deceived, God has not changed His standard of holiness (2 Timothy 2:19). If He said in times past that He hates sexual immortality of all kinds, including homosexuality (the reason for which He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah), then He has not changed His mind on this today (Romans 2:26-27). No matter how well the world propagates the lie that homosexuals are created that way, or water baptism can be done anywhere and anyhow, it will forever remain a lie of the devil.
Just as the devil deceived Eve, so is he deceiving people with diverse philosophies built around lies today. I am persuaded and convinced by the infallible word of God and the Holy Spirit that gays and lesbians cannot inherit the kingdom of God, just as robbers, thieves of all categories and treasury looters will not enter into it (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). God's unchangeable character is a call to those who are partakers of His divine nature to remain resolute in upholding His standard and banner in this world. God bless you.
Unchangeable Changer, please change every of my actions and ideas that will affect your standards in Jesus name.
